I’m giving the spa at Sensei Lānaʻi a twelve out of ten. I know that’s not how scores work.
Then I added up the rest of the trip.
Our Lānaʻi trip cost about $11,000 for four nights, and roughly $4,000 of it was gone before we ever saw the island.
In short: Four nights at Sensei Lānaʻi, a Four Seasons Resort, in May 2025, came to about $11,000 for two people, all in, flights included. This was our mini honeymoon and I paid for it, start to finish.
The short answers, before we get into it
How much does a trip to Lanai cost?
Our four nights on Lānaʻi in May 2025 came to about $11,000 for two people, all in. About $4,000 of that was flights, paid in cash. The other $7,000 covered Sensei Lānaʻi, a Four Seasons resort, every meal we ate, the spa and two activities. I paid for this one myself.
The Lānaʻi trip cost, all in: about $11,000
Moneyyyyyy checkkkk.
| What | For two |
|---|---|
| Flights, cash, no points | about $4,000 |
| Resort and food, 4 nights | about $4,729 |
| Spa and wellness | about $1,100 |
| Horseback riding | about $659 |
| Food tasting | about $512 |
| Total | about $11,000 |
Trip taken in May 2025, so treat these prices as a baseline, not today’s rates. They’re what we actually spent, rounded to the honest ballpark, not averages from the internet.
We never got a separate food bill, so the resort and food line is what was left of the $7,000 once I pulled out the three things I remember to the dollar. That’s why there’s no room rate in this table. I don’t have one, and I’m not going to invent one.
Split across four nights, the resort, the food and everything we did on the island came to about $1,750 a night. Put the flights back in and it’s about $2,750 a night.

$4,000 before we checked in
More than a third of the whole trip was the part where we sat on planes.
And we paid cash. No points, no companion fare, nothing clever.
Wut.
I am the person on this blog who keeps telling you to put your flights on points. I did it for a girls trip to Chicago that came to $137 each and then booked my own mini honeymoon like I’d never heard of a credit card.
If you’re planning this one, start the points conversation a few months out. The resort is the fun part to plan, and the flights are the part that eats a third of the budget before you notice.
Both resorts on the island are Four Seasons, so every meal is a resort meal
Lānaʻi has two resorts and both are Four Seasons. There’s also Hotel Lānaʻi in town, the budget-friendly option.
We ate every single meal at the resort. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, four days running.
Now you may be asking, why not just drive into Lānaʻi City and eat somewhere normal? You can. Hawaii’s tourism board lists a handful of local spots there, including a mom-and-pop cafe and a bar and grill at Hotel Lānaʻi. We didn’t go to any of them, and that’s on me, not the island.
So when you budget for this trip, budget the food like it’s resort food, because unless you make a plan to leave, it will be.
What I would skip: the $512 food tasting
The food tasting was about $512 for the two of us.
It tasted like a regular meal. It wasn’t even that good.
Yeah, girl, no.
Order dinner off the menu one night instead and put that money somewhere it earns its keep. Like the spa.
The ice cream mochi was free, and I still think about it
The Pilates and workout classes were included, so free to us, and we went. The pool was free. And every so often someone would come around passing out little snacks, and the one that got me was the ice cream mochi. Really, really good.
None of it showed up on a bill.

The spa was the splurge: TWELVE out of ten
The spa and wellness came to about $1,100, the biggest single thing we did on the island. You get a private area and the views are very great.
Twelve out of ten, like I said up top. Let a girl live.
The honest part
This trip is a splurge you save for. At about $1,750 a night before flights, there’s no version of it that’s a deal.
Two things I’d tell a friend before she books. The best parts were the ones already included in the stay. And the one line I’d take back was the most special-sounding thing on the menu.
It’s also a trip where the plan matters more than usual, because the food decides itself if you let it.
Would I go back?
Yes. I would definitely go back to Lānaʻi. It’s very beautiful, and the whole trip was very restful, which turned out to be the point.
Soft girl era, restful edition.
If you’re planning this trip:
- Price the flights first, and look at points before you pay cash.
- Budget food at resort prices, or plan a night in Lānaʻi City on purpose.
- Skip the food tasting.
- Book the spa.
- Take every free class they offer.
About $11,000 for four nights, one dinner I’d take back, and a spa I gave a twelve out of ten.
